Debra Thome Claims Top Prize In 'Bonus Crossword' Scratch Game

CLIVE, Iowa – A Black Hawk County woman has claimed a $30,000 lottery prize.

Debra Thome of Raymond claimed the 48th of 91 top prizes of $30,000 available in the lottery's "Bonus Crossword" scratch game.

Thome bought her winning ticket at Casey's, 5202 Lafayette Road in Elk Run Heights, and claimed her prize Tuesday at the lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids.

Bonus Crossword is a $3 scratch game. More details about how to play this game, and number of prizes still up for grabs in it can be found on the Iowa Lottery's website, www.ialottery.com.

Since the lottery's start in 1985, its players have won more than $5.7 billion in prizes while the lottery has raised more than $2.4 billion for the state programs that benefit all Iowans.

Today, lottery proceeds help our state in multiple ways. They help Iowa veterans and their families through the Iowa Veterans Trust Fund. They help the families of Iowa peace officers, firefighters and corrections employees who die in the line of duty. And they provide help for a variety of significant projects through the state General Fund.
