Iowa SpeedwayNewton Attraction Offers Buy One, Get One Tickets To Sept. 5 Race For Iowa Powerball® Players; Other Iowa Businesses Also Make Special Offers As Part Of Campaign

DES MOINES, Iowa – The latest round of money-saving offers in the "Keep Your Powerball Ticket Handy" summer travel campaign is available starting at 10 p.m. Wednesday, with the Iowa Speedway as the featured attraction.

The Newton race track is the latest of eight featured attractions in the summer travel initiative from the Iowa Lottery and Iowa Tourism Office. The idea behind the "Experience Iowa" project with its "Keep Your Powerball Ticket Handy" slogan is to encourage people to travel the state, go to Iowa attractions and businesses and give the entire state a boost in these tough economic times.

The Iowa Speedway is making a buy one, get one offer on $60 tickets to the NASCAR Camping World Truck Series on Sept. 5. Consumers will receive one free ticket to the race with the purchase of a $60 ticket. The speedway is a state-of-the-art 7/8-mile race track and motorsports facility. The track is owned and operated by U.S. Motorsport Corp. and was designed by famed NASCAR champion Rusty Wallace, now an anchor and analyst for ABC-TV/ESPN. The speedway includes 25,000 permanent grandstand seats.

In addition, starting at 10 p.m. Wednesday, players can visit the lottery's Web site to find out how they can use their nonwinning Powerball tickets to receive:

  • $30 savings on tickets to the Iowa State football home opener against North Dakota St. on Sept. 3 in Ames (receive tickets for $10 each vs. $40 retail price).
  • A free "good wash" (maximum $4 value) at the Kwik Klean Car Wash, 2150 Twin Valley Dr. in Dubuque.
  • A free 20-ounce fountain drink at U-Stop convenience stores in Council Bluffs, Minden and Crescent.

To take advantage of the latest offers, Iowa Powerball players who have a nonwinning ticket from the drawing on Wednesday (May 20) can log onto the lottery Web site at www.ialottery.com, print off a coupon there, attach their nonwinning ticket and then present the coupon to the participating business to receive the special deal. This latest round of offers will be available through Saturday.

Powerball ticket holders must use one ticket per coupon, or select which offer they wish to use.

The lottery-tourism project will continue through May and June, with discounts from other featured attractions to include Riverboat Twilight, which offers riverboat trips from Le Claire to Dubuque; King's Pointe Waterpark Resort in Storm Lake; Iowa Marriott Hotels at special participating locations; Pzazz/FunCity amusement park in Burlington; the National Mississippi River Museum & Aquarium in Dubuque; Honey Creek Resort near Lake Rathbun in south-central Iowa; and Adventureland Inn in Altoona.
