DES MOINES, Iowa – A Carroll man has hit it big a second time, this time winning a $250,000 prize!

Brian Schade claimed the top prize playing the lottery's "Lucky Diamonds" instant-scratch game.

Schade's first win came only months earlier; he took home the top prize of $100,000 playing Iowa's $100,000 Cash Game in July.

Schade claimed his prize Sept. 21 at the Iowa Lottery's headquarters in Des Moines. He bought his winning ticket at Sparky's 25, 402 E. Sixth St. in Carroll.

Lucky Diamonds is a $10 scratch game. Players try to match any of "your numbers" to the "winning numbers" in the play area on each ticket. Players who find the "double diamond" symbol win double the prize shown. The overall odds of winning a prize in the game are 1 in 3.18.

Schade claimed one of the 17 top prizes of $250,000. There are still 12 top prizes available in the game. Sixty-two prizes of $5,000 remain unclaimed in Lucky Diamonds along with more than 935 prizes of $500.

Since the Iowa Lottery's start in 1985, its players have won more than $2.4 billion in prizes while the lottery has raised nearly $1.2 billion for state programs.
