CLIVE, Iowa — A northern Iowa woman's morning routine was shaken up when she won a $50,000 lottery prize.
“I dropped my son off at school and I figured I wanted a donut or something, and I got some scratchers while I was there,” said Sheila Reich, who lives in the Mitchell County town of St. Ansgar.
Reich, 34, purchased her “PAC-MAN” scratch ticket at Casey's, 110 N. U.S. Highway 218 in St. Ansgar, and took it home. Reich said she thought she had made a mistake as she uncovered her top prize, but she scanned her ticket with the Iowa Lottery's mobile app and verified the big win.
“I cried a little,” Reich said.
She claimed her prize Thursday at the lottery's regional office in Mason City.
Reich plans to use her winnings to pay off the loan on her pickup truck and may purchase a camper for summer adventures with her two children.
Based on the classic video game, PAC-MAN is a $5 scratch game that features a unique play style. It offers prizes from $5 to $50,000 and overall odds of 1 in 3.46.
From now until 9:59 a.m. on April 28, 2025, players can enter nonwinning PAC-MAN tickets for a chance to win a share of more than $300,000 in cash prizes. The grand prize is a PAC-MAN arcade prize package and $25,000 cash. For more information about this promotion, visit www.ialottery.com.
