CLIVE, Iowa - A Cedar Rapids man said he can better support his new business after winning a lottery prize of more than $15,000.
"Honestly, it feels great. It's just something I need to get done," Garry Mitchell said.
Mitchell, 59, won a prize of $15,625 in April 16's Pick 4 midday drawing.
Mitchell bought his winning ticket at Kum & Go, 1178 Enterprise Drive in Riverside, and claimed his prize Tuesday at the lottery's Cedar Rapids regional office. He said the money is coming at the perfect time as he recently launched a delivery service.
"I just bought a cargo van and we started a business, and this is going to get it moving just a little faster," he said. "We're going to run from state to state or as far as we can go from any local business that we can get business from."
Pick 4, which has been offered in Iowa since September 2003, features odds of just 1 in 10,000 of winning the game's $30,000 top prize. It offers a variety of play options and wagers from 50 cents to $5 for the chance to match a four-digit number combination from 0000 to 9999.
