CLIVE, Iowa — A northern Iowa woman has won a $50,000 lottery prize.

Cynthia "Thia" Allum of Algona won the second top prize in the Iowa Lottery's "Cyclone" scratch game. She purchased her winning ticket at Akron Stop, 107 U.S. Highway 18 in Algona, and claimed her prize Friday at the lottery's Mason City regional office.

The Cyclone scratch game features Iowa State's logo and the Cyclones' classic cardinal and gold colors. It is a $5 game that features eight top prizes of $50,000 and overall odds of 1 in 3.59.

From now until 9:59 a.m. on Feb. 10, 2025, lottery players can enter nonwinning Cyclone scratch tickets into the Iowa Lottery's Dublin Your Luck promotion. Entrants have a chance to win a trip for two to Dublin, Ireland for the Cyclones' 2025 football season opener against Kansas State.
