CLIVE, Iowa — A Jones County woman plans to graduate from nursing school next year without any student loans after winning a $25,000 lottery prize.
Sarah Iben, 26, of Monticello, won the big prize in the Iowa Lottery's "Bonus Ball Bingo" scratch game. She purchased her winning ticket during a trip for groceries at Fareway, 420 N. Farley St. in Monticello.
She scratched the ticket at home and uncovered the 25th of the game's 29 top prizes available. She showed it to her boyfriend, who encouraged her to return to the store to scan her ticket and verify the win.
Iben claimed her prize on Wednesday at the lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids. She said her lottery prize comes at a good time.
"I can pay off my student loans and graduate nursing school with no debt," she said.
Bonus Ball Bingo is a $2 scratch game that features overall odds of 1 in 3.56. For more information about this game, and the number of prizes still available, visit www.ialottery.com.
