Dixon Nelson Claims First Top Prize in 'High Roller' Game

CLIVE, Iowa - A Montgomery County man has claimed the first $50,000 prize in a new Iowa Lottery game.

Dixon Nelson of Red Oak won the big prize in the "High Roller" scratch game. He purchased his winning ticket at Casey's, 1310 N. Broadway St. in Red Oak, and claimed his prize on Wednesday at the lottery's regional office in Council Bluffs.

High Roller is a $5 scratch game that features eight top prizes of $50,000 and overall odds of 1 in 3.81. For more information about this game, and the number of prizes still available, visit ialottery.com.

Since the lottery's start in 1985, its players have won more than $5.7 billion in prizes while the lottery has raised more than $2.4 billion for the state programs that benefit all Iowans.

Today, lottery proceeds help our state in multiple ways. They help Iowa veterans and their families through the Iowa Veterans Trust Fund. They help the families of Iowa peace officers, firefighters and corrections employees who die in the line of duty. And they provide help for a variety of significant projects through the state General Fund.
