CLIVE, Iowa - An Illinois man has won a $250,000 Iowa Lottery prize on a ticket he purchased in Fort Madison.
Brandan Beach, 34, of Dallas City, Ill., won a top prize in the "Aces High" scratch game. He bought his winning ticket at Fast Break, 5002 Ave. O in Fort Madison.
Beach, a forklift mechanic, said he was in disbelief after scratching off the eighth top prize in the game.
"You've got to pinch yourself - hopefully you're reading it right," he told officials on Wednesday as he claimed his prize at lottery headquarters in Clive.
Beach said he plans to use his winnings to pay bills and renovate his home.
"We're remodeling our house and were hoping to get in by Christmas," he said. "Hopefully, this will ensure that."
