CLIVE, Iowa — A Hardin County woman said she was in disbelief after scratching off a $25,000 lottery prize.
Kari Sweeney, 37, of Iowa Falls, claimed the seventh top prize in the Iowa Lottery's "Wild Bingo" scratch game. She purchased her winning ticket at Casey's, 904 Washington Ave. in Iowa Falls, and scratched the ticket at home.
"I had to double-check it like 10 times," Sweeney said with a laugh on Wednesday as she claimed her prize at the lottery's regional office in Mason City. "I went to work that night and I couldn't spit it out to my co-workers. They said I looked like a ghost walking in."
Sweeney said she plans to use her winnings to move into a new apartment, buy a new car and save for retirement.
