CLIVE, Iowa — A Des Moines resident has won a $100,000 lottery prize.

That Thoung won a top prize in the Iowa Lottery's $100,000 Holiday Crossword” scratch game. Thoung purchased the winning ticket at Cash Saver, 4121 Fleur Drive in Des Moines, and claimed the prize Monday at lottery headquarters in Clive.

The $100,000 Holiday Crossword game was a $10 scratch game with a holiday theme. It began sales in October and ended Jan. 5 after the holiday season.

Since the lottery's start in 1985, its players have won more than $5.7 billion in prizes while the lottery has raised more than $2.4 billion for the state programs that benefit all Iowans.

Today, lottery proceeds help our state in multiple ways. They help Iowa veterans and their families through the Iowa Veterans Trust Fund. They help the families of Iowa peace officers, firefighters and corrections employees who die in the line of duty. And they provide help for a variety of significant projects through the state General Fund.
