Bon Voyage! Cruising Details

If I win a cruise prize package, can I just take cash instead?

No, there is no cash option for the cruise prize package.

What if I win a cruise package and I'm not able to make the trip?

You can designate a proxy to take the trip on your behalf. At your request, and with the approval of the Iowa Lottery, the necessary arrangements for you to transfer the trip can be made prior to the booking deadline at no additional cost to you. If the need for a Proxy is determined after travel booking arrangements have been made for the original prize winner, the winner will be responsible for all additional expenses incurred for booking travel for the proxy. Proxy paperwork must be submitted by October 31, 2018.

What forms of ID must my guest and I present in order to book the cruise and board the ship?

A valid form of ID will be required for both the winner and guest for cruise booking and boarding the ship for sailing.

Valid forms of ID include: a current passport, or BOTH a valid state photo ID AND original birth certificate.

Does my guest need to be 21 years of age or older?

No, there is no age restriction for guests.

Do I need a credit card for incidentals in the hotel before the cruise and during the cruise?

Yes. The Power Cruise Prize Winner or guest(s) must have a valid credit card or will be required to post cash deposit for incidentals to check into the hotel and upon ship check-in to have on file to cover onboard spend above the $250 credit included with the Power Cruise Prize.

If I don't take a guest with me or my guest can't go on the cruise, am I responsible for the full cost of the cruise prize package?

Yes, Power Cruise Prize Winners who do not elect to take a guest, or whose guest does not attend the cruise are subject to the full prize reporting and withholding.

What documents do I need to file for my flight and by what date?

An electronic Flight Request Form will be provided to the winners and must be completed before Dec. 1, 2018.

Reminders to complete the form will be sent leading up to the deadline, but if you do not submit the Flight Request Form before the deadline, we cannot guarantee a flight and it will be your responsibility to get to the port and no reimbursements will be made as a result.

What happens if I miss the departure of the ship and I don't have trip insurance?

If you miss the departure time of the ship and have not purchased travel insurance, there will be no credit or rebooking of the cruise. It is the sole responsibility of the winner to arrive at the port of call in advance of the departure time. Likewise, if you miss your flight and have not purchased trip insurance, you'll be responsible for any additional flight or travel costs to make the ship departure or return home.

What about additional fees? Are those included?

Power Cruise Prize Winners will be provided with a non-refundable $250 credit applied to their ship account to be utilized for incidental items such as: beverage service, shore excursions, specialty dining, casino credits and purchases made during the cruise and/or similar expenditures.

All primary gratuities on the ship (room attendant and dining room staff) and all trip-related destination/departure taxes are also included. The Power Cruise Prize includes federal and state withholding tax paid on the value of the prize.

However, the Power Cruise Prize does not include any additional fees or charges such as: additional travel expenses (i.e. baggage fees, parking), expenditures for excursions, ATM fees, supplementary gratuities, or premium dining experiences (a late-night room service charge of $3.95 may apply).

Additional charges onboard the ship not covered by the $250 credit will be made to the guest's stateroom and settled upon checkout.
