About Pick 3

Pick 3 is a daily game that leaves nearly all of the choices up to the player. With drawings twice a day, the prize you can win depends on the type of play you make.

How To Play

Pick 3 ticketPick 3 plays range in price from 50 cents up to $5. Choose three numbers, each from 0 through 9.

You can choose your own numbers or ask for an easy pick to have the lottery terminal or self-service kiosk to select the numbers on your ticket. Check the multi-draw box to buy tickets for up to 16 consecutive drawings at a time.

You'll also select the type of play you want to make:

  • Straight - match all three numbers in the EXACT ORDER as drawn.
  • Box - match all numbers IN ANY ORDER.
  • Straight/Box - match all numbers in the EXACT and/or ANY ORDER.
  • Front Pair - match the first two numbers in the EXACT ORDER.
  • Back Pair - match the last two numbers in the EXACT ORDER.

Prizes & Odds

Midday Pick 3 drawings are held at about 12:20 p.m. each day. Evening drawings are held daily at about 10 p.m. Tickets can be purchased until noon on the day of the drawing for midday drawings and until 9:40 p.m. on the day of the drawing for evening drawings.

Pick 3 prizes must be claimed within 90 days of the drawing in which they were won.

History

Pick 3 debuted in July 1998 in Iowa with evening drawings held Monday through Saturday. Midday drawings in the game were added in September 2003. Sunday drawings began in July 2010.
