CLIVE, Iowa — Players have already begun cashing in on the Millionaire for Life™ game, with the Iowa Lottery reporting a strong start to prize payouts in the game's opening month.
Through the first four weeks of sales, players in Iowa have won 30,220 prizes totaling $383,176. Those prizes range from $8 to $7,500. The game's two top prize levels — $1 million a year for life and $100,000 a year for life — have not yet been won.
"Millionaire for Life is already delivering on its promise of more prizes and better odds," said Iowa Lottery CEO Matt Strawn. "Now we're just waiting for the moment we can celebrate Iowa's first winner of $1 million a year for life."
Tickets in the nightly draw game cost $5 per play. Players select five numbers from a pool of 58, and another number — called the Millionaire Ball™ — from a separate pool of five. There are nine prize levels, with winnings starting when players match just two numbers.
Millionaire for Life offers overall odds of 1 in 8.46, with odds of about 1 in 22.9 million of winning the top prize.
