CLIVE, Iowa — Iowa Lottery players will soon have a new chance to win big with the launch of Millionaire for Life™, a national draw game offering the opportunity to win up to $1 million every year for life.
In Iowa, sales begin at the start of business on Sunday. Tickets cost $5 per play, and the first drawing is scheduled for 10:15 p.m. Sunday. Drawings will be held daily.
The game features two lifetime prize levels, including a top prize of $1 million a year for life and a second prize of $100,000 a year for life. Both prizes are paid as annuities with a guaranteed minimum payout of 20 years. Winners also may choose a one-time cash option for either prize level.
"Millionaire for Life delivers exactly what its name promises: the chance for a lifetime of financial freedom," said Iowa Lottery CEO Matt Strawn. "We're excited to bring Iowa players a new game that offers the opportunity to win a range of big prizes every day."
In the game, players select five numbers from a pool of 58, and another number — called the Millionaire Ball™ — from a separate pool of five. There are nine prize levels, with winnings starting when players match just two numbers.
Millionaire for Life offers overall odds of 1 in 8.46, with odds of about 1 in 22.9 million of winning the top prize.
Iowa is one of 31 U.S. lotteries participating in the game.
