Years-Long Tradition Leads to $10,000 Lottery Win

Eastern Iowa Man Claims $10,000 Prize In '$100,000 Mega Crossword' Game

Mike Morgan

CLIVE, Iowa — An eastern Iowa man's weekly tradition spanning more than five years just led to a $10,000 Iowa Lottery prize.

"I buy two tickets. One for myself and one for my wife," said Mike Morgan, 61, of Muscatine.

On Wednesday, Morgan did as he has always done. He went to Casey's, 3509 Steamboat Way in Muscatine, and bought his tickets. One of them was a "$100,000 Mega Crossword" and it was a big winner.

"I scanned it, she scanned it. Ten thousand!" Morgan said. "I was like, 'Wow, that's nice!'"

Morgan claimed his prize Friday at the lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids.

Morgan, a business owner, said he plans to use his winnings on having fun with his grandchildren.

The $100,000 Mega Crossword game is a $10 scratch game that features 46 top prizes of $100,000, 92 prizes of $10,000 and overall odds of 1 in 3.29. For more information about this game, and the number of prizes still available, visit www.ialottery.com.
