$10,000-Winning Lottery Ticket Purchased in Northwest Iowa

Minnesota Man Claims Big Prize in 'Ruby Red Crossword' Game

CLIVE, Iowa — A Minnesota man has claimed a $10,000 Iowa Lottery prize on a ticket he purchased in northwest Iowa.

Andrew Buntjer of Worthington, Minn., won the big prize in the Iowa Lottery's "Ruby Red Crossword" scratch game. He purchased his winning ticket at Kwik Star, 1521 Park St. in Sheldon, and claimed his prize Monday at the lottery's Storm Lake regional office.

Since the lottery's start in 1985, its players have won more than $6.4 billion in prizes while the lottery has raised more than $2.6 billion for the state programs that benefit all Iowans.

Today, lottery proceeds help our state in multiple ways. They help Iowa veterans and their families through the Iowa Veterans Trust Fund. They help the families of Iowa peace officers, firefighters and corrections employees who die in the line of duty. And they provide help for a variety of significant projects through the state General Fund.
