Fort Dodge Man Wins $50,000 Lottery Prize

Morley Rogers Jr. Wins Top Prize in 'Crytsal 7s ' Scratch Game

Morley Rogers Jr.

CLIVE, Iowa - A Fort Dodge man who won a $50,000 lottery prize said he planned to split the winnings with his girlfriend.

"I told her, if you scratch the big one, we 'll split it," Morley Rogers Jr. told officials on Monday as he claimed his prize at lottery headquarters in Clive. "I 'm going to hold true to that."

Rogers, 64, bought a handful of "Crystal 7s" scratch tickets at Kwik Star, 3105 Fifth Ave. S. in Fort Dodge.

"I always take them home to my girlfriend," Rogers said. "She got home and sat down and scratched that first one, and woohoo! She had a good time."

Rogers didn 't believe his luck, so he took the ticket back to the store to verify his win on the location 's self-checker.

"Everybody high-fived me in the convenience store," he said. "It was a lot of fun.

"We 've won a few $50 or $100 (prizes), but this one, this is awesome," he added. "This 'll just make life a little bit easier."

Rogers said he plans to share his portion of the winnings with his children.

Crystal 7s is a $5 scratch game that features eight top prizes of $50,000 and overall odds of 1 in 3.44. For more information about this game, and the number of prizes still available, visit ialottery.com.
