Central Iowa Woman Wins $100,000 Lottery Prize

Kristi Doss Claims Top Prize In 'Power 10X' Scratch Game

CLIVE, Iowa — A central Iowa woman bought a lottery ticket on her way into work and won a $100,000 prize.

Kristi Doss, 51, of Carlisle won the seventh top prize in the Iowa Lottery's "Power 10X" scratch game. She bought her winning ticket at Casey's, 206 S. First St. in Grimes.

"I was on my way to work with my boss," Doss, a house cleaner, told officials Thursday as she claimed her prize at lottery headquarters in Clive. "We stopped at Casey's. She had to get some gas, so I went in to pay for it and just bought the ticket while I was in there."

She scratched the ticket in the car. When she revealed the $100,000 prize, she said that at first, she thought it was a fake ticket.

"It's just overwhelming," she said. "You just start going through and thinking about what you're going to do with the money. I have three daughters so I knew right away I was going to give some to them."

Doss said she hasn't made any other plans for her winnings, but is thinking about taking a trip.

Power 10X is a $10 scratch game that features eight top prizes of $100,000 and overall odds of 1 in 2.96. For more information about this game, and the number of prizes still available, visit www.ialottery.com.
