CLIVE, Iowa — A Marshalltown man said his $30,000 lottery came at a great time.
"I'm feeling great," Daryl Koch said on Thursday as he claimed his prize at lottery headquarters in Clive. "I just redid my bathroom, so that'll pay for it."
Koch, 54, won the seventh top prize in the Iowa Lottery's "Diamond Mine 9X" scratch game. He purchased his winning ticket at Kwik Star, 810 S. Third Ave. in Marshalltown, and took the ticket home to scratch.
"I went to the basement in my house and scratched a $30,000 ticket," he said. "I was just in a little bit of shock, and then reality sets in."
Diamond Mine 9X is a $3 scratch game that features eight top prizes of $30,000 and overall odds of 1 in 3.51. For more information about this game, and the number of prizes still available, visit www.ialottery.com.
