CLIVE, Iowa — A Central Iowa woman won a $10,000 lottery prize, and said it's the second time a particular store has come through for her.

Rhonda Minnich of Norwalk was out running errands Tuesday when she found herself near Kum & Go at 5969 Ashworth Rd. in West Des Moines.

"I've had luck there before," said Minnich. "It sounds silly, but you get that feeling and I thought, 'Let's do it!'"

She said she won a $500 prize at the same Kum & Go years ago. This time, Minnich bought a "$100,000 Mega Crossword" scratch game, took the ticket home and started scratching.

After completing several words, Minnich's excitement got the better of her. She reached for her phone and used the Iowa Lottery mobile app to scan the ticket and see what she had won.

"When it came up a $10,000 winner, I really almost fell out of my chair. Not kidding! It felt like my eyes were going to pop out of my head," Minnich said.

She claimed her big prize Tuesday at lottery headquarters in Clive. Minnich said she plans to save her winnings after she does some Christmas shopping for her husband, adult children and grandchildren.

"They're about to get spoiled," Minnich said. "It's sure going to make Christmas a lot more fun, that's for sure!"

The $100,000 Mega Crossword game is a $10 scratch game that features 46 top prizes of $100,000, 92 prizes of $10,000 and overall odds of 1 in 3.29. For more information about this game, and the number of prizes still available, visit www.ialottery.com.
