CLIVE, Iowa A southeast Iowa man believes his late grandfather had something to do with his $25,000 lottery prize .

"It was really him just looking out for me," Myles Jones of Washington said as he claimed his prize on Wednesday at the Iowa Lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids.

Jones, 21, won a top prize in the Iowa Lottery's "X-tra Bingo" scratch game. He bought his winning ticket at Fareway, 301 N. Marion Ave. in Washington, while he was at the store to buy flowers for his mother, aunt and grandmother, to mark the anniversary of his grandfather's death.

"My grandpa passed away three years ago," Jones explained. "Kind of like a good gesture in his memory."

He returned home with his flowers and scratch ticket, and uncovered his $25,000 prize.

"I was just like, 'Is this a joke?' I just didn't know what to believe, honestly," Jones said.

He thinks it all could be a nod from his grandpa.

"It's definitely memorable now," Jones said.

Jones is a college student and said he plans to use his winnings to pay off student debt.

X-tra Bingo is a $2 scratch game that features 26 top prizes of $25,000 and overall odds of 1 in 3.44. For more information about this game, and the number of prizes still available, visit www.ialottery.com.
