CLIVE, Iowa — A western Iowa woman is the second person to win a $50,000 top prize in the Iowa Lottery's "PAC-MAN" scratch game.

"It's well-deserved on my part, I think," joked Wendy Donaldson of Council Bluffs.

She purchased her winning ticket at Casey's, 2711 S. 14th St. in Council Bluffs, and claimed her prize Monday at lottery headquarters in Clive.

Donaldson said she has a habit of buying scratch tickets and forgetting to play them. That's exactly what happened this time, until one night when she stopped for gas after work. She remembered she had a PAC-MAN ticket she hadn't yet scratched.

"I was sitting at the gas pump, and then I checked it, and I checked it, and I checked it again, like 10 times. And then I just started crying," Donaldson recalled. "I just said, 'There's no way. Not me!'"

Donaldson, who works as a banquet server, said she plans to use her winnings to pay off her vehicle and save the rest of her money.

With Donaldson's win, there are now six remaining PAC-MAN top prizes.

Based on the classic video game, PAC-MAN is a $5 scratch game that features a unique play style. It offers prizes from $5 to $50,000 and overall odds of 1 in 3.46.

From now until 9:59 a.m. on April 28, 2025, players can enter nonwinning PAC-MAN tickets for a chance to win a share of more than $300,000 in cash prizes. The grand prize is a PAC-MAN arcade prize package and $25,000 cash. For more information about this promotion, visit www.ialottery.com.
