CLIVE, Iowa — A Dubuque man has won a $250,000 lottery prize.

Francis Oglesby won the fifth of 18 top prizes available in the Iowa Lottery's "Aces High" scratch game. He purchased his winning ticket at Ron's 5 Points Mart, 405 Rhomberg Ave. in Dubuque. He claimed his prize on Tuesday at the lottery's regional office in Cedar Rapids.

Since the lottery's start in 1985, its players have won more than $5.7 billion in prizes while the lottery has raised more than $2.4 billion for the state programs that benefit all Iowans.

Today, lottery proceeds help our state in multiple ways. They help Iowa veterans and their families through the Iowa Veterans Trust Fund. They help the families of Iowa peace officers, firefighters and corrections employees who die in the line of duty. And they provide help for a variety of significant projects through the state General Fund.
