Harrison County Man Claims Second Large Lottery Prize In Six Months

Rick Charbonneau Claims Big Prize In InstaPlay Lottery Game

Rick Charbonneau

CLIVE, Iowa - A Harrison County man has claimed a large lottery prize for the second time in six months.

Rick Charbonneau, 66, of Logan, won an Extreme Green Progressive InstaPlay jackpot prize of $48,448.

Charbonneau purchased his winning ticket in October at Petro Mart, 1961 U.S. Highway 30 in Missouri Valley, and claimed his prize on Wednesday at lottery headquarters in Clive.

It was his second big lottery win in the past six months. He also won an InstaPlay prize of $16,791 in July 2020.

"Luck of the draw, period," said Charbonneau, who plans to use his winnings to retire debt.

The Extreme Green Progressive jackpot starts at $20,000 and increases with each ticket sold in the game statewide until it is won.

The InstaPlay product combines features from instant-scratch and lotto games. InstaPlay tickets are called "scratchless" because they have no security coating that needs to be removed to determine the prize won. And rather than having supplies of tickets printed in advance like those in traditional scratch and pull-tab games, InstaPlay tickets are printed on demand from the lottery terminal.

InstaPlay games range in price from $1 to $20. For more information, visit ialottery.com.
