CLIVE, Iowa – A Fort Dodge man has claimed a $30,000 lottery prize.

James Hay claimed the 54th of 91 top prizes of $30,000 available in the Iowa Lottery's "Bonus Crossword" scratch game.

Hay bought his winning ticket at Downtown Sinclair, 309 Second Ave. S in Fort Dodge, and claimed his prize Monday at the lottery's headquarters in Clive.

Bonus Crossword is a $3 scratch game. More details about how to play this game, and number of prizes still up for grabs in it can be found on the Iowa Lottery's website, www.ialottery.com.

Prizes and Proceeds

Since the lottery's start in 1985, its players have won more than $5.9 billion in prizes while the lottery has raised more than $2.5 billion for the state programs that benefit all Iowans.

Today, lottery proceeds help our state in multiple ways. They help Iowa veterans and their families through the Iowa Veterans Trust Fund. They help the families of Iowa peace officers, firefighters and corrections employees who die in the line of duty. And they provide help for a variety of significant projects through the state General Fund.
